Does JFS charge fees for service?
Can everyone use the services of JFS or do you have to be a certain age or at a certain income?
People of all ages and incomes come to JFS!
The following programs are available to the entire Nashville and Middle TN region:
- Individual, Couples, Family, and Children & Teen Counseling
- Adoption Services
- Information and Referral Services
- Support Groups
- Family Life Education Programming
Due to guidelines from our funding sources, specific programs are available only to those of the Jewish faith, as follows:
- All Financial Assistance Programs
- Kosher Food Boxes
- Helping Hands
- Case Management
- The Jewish Job Network
Does JFS take insurance for therapy services?
Yes, JFS does take insurance for therapy services. JFS therapists are professional, experienced licensed clinical social workers. Jewish Family Service is an in-network provider for several major insurance companies as well as EAP providers (You may wish to check with your insurance company prior to your visit.) We also accept Medicaid. Clients without insurance may qualify for service on a sliding scale based on income and family size. Please contact us at (615) 356-4234 for additional information.
How do I get started?
First call JFS at (615) 356-4234. If you are a parent or guardian, you can call on behalf of your loved one.
How do you keep my information private?
All communications with Jewish Family Service are confidential and all employees must sign confidentiality agreements. Written records are kept in locked files. Although our offices are located within the Gordon Jewish Community Center, the entrance to our offices are in the back of the building with a private entrance and fully confidential.
Does JFS accept walk-ins?
No. Please call (615) 356-4234 to make an appointment with one of our social workers.
Are there volunteer opportunities at JFS?

Life can be challenging, relationships can be hard, and you may need the extra support that comes with working with a therapist. Our licensed social workers offer counseling for individuals, couples, and families, as well as for children and adolescents.
Choosing to adopt a child, or to place a child for adoption, is a life-altering decision. We are a licensed child-placing agency in Tennessee with more than 40 years of experience in adoption services in Nashville and Middle Tennessee.
Whether you need emergency financial assistance, such as help paying a utility bill or rent for the month, or material assistance by ensuring your children have gifts at the holidays, school supplies, or food supplements, Jewish Family Service offers this critical assistance in a confidential, compassionate manner.
Older Adult Programs & Services
We recognize that older adults are true treasures, and we strive to create and maintain a community that values and celebrates them for their wisdom, contributions, and experiences. Our programs and services are an important outlet for our older adults, encouraging them to be social and stimulated.
