Since 1853, Jewish Family Service has been a trusted source of strength and support for Nashville’s Jewish community and beyond. From its beginnings as the Hebrew Benevolent Society to a modern, multi-service agency, JFS has responded to life’s challenges with compassion and care.
Last year, JFS Nashville served 1,900 individuals through 21 services. With our community’s needs only expected to grow over the next 5, 10, and 30 years, the JFS Endowment fund will ensure the organization is always ready to respond to every challenge yet to come.
A $2.5M endowment will:
- Cover 20% of our operating budget annually
- Help us attract and retain exceptional staff
- Ensure JFS is prepared for whatever comes next
JFS has a lean but passionate team, serving individuals and families across all life stages. Now is the time to lay the foundation for our future.
Every Gift Lifts our Community
To date, over 40 donors have committed gifts ranging from $2,500 to $250,000. 9 families have made leadership Dor L’Dor commitments of $100,000 or more. We are also proud of 100% participation from the JFS Board of Directors.

Keeping JFS Ready
The Time is Now Campaign is based on 3 pillars: Meeting Evolving Needs, Responding in Times of Crisis, and Sustaining the Future. Once established, the endowment will provide an ongoing financial cushion empowering JFS to foster resilience, innovation, and continue its impact.
Meeting Evolving Needs
JFS has launched over 11 new services since 2010 – everything from Kosher Food Boxes to art therapy for those with Alzheimer’s. JFS continues to grow and adapt as new challenges arise.
Responding in Times of Crisis
Whether facing natural disasters, COVID-19, or global crises impacting our Jewish community, JFS has consistently stepped forward to serve with urgency, compassion, and care.
Sustaining the Future
The campaign will build a $2.5 million endowment to help fund approximately 20% of JFS’s annual budget, support and retain exceptional staff, and ensure JFS remains strong for the future.
